New Services to Assess, Benchmark, and Certify Digital Connectivity and Smart Technologies for Buildings

ESD is expanding its services to help building owners, operators, and occupants benefit from WiredScore certifications. With the recent accreditation of four key professionals, ESD is ready to advise and guide facility stakeholders through the WiredScore and SmartScore certification processes.

WiredScore is a global organization that oversees its independent certifications to rate the quality and resilience of digital infrastructure and smart technologies in buildings. Much like LEED, WELL, and WELL Health-Safety Rating designations designed to measure the sustainability and fitness of the physical work environment, successful completion of the WiredScore and SmartScore certification process can demonstrate a building’s commitment to providing efficient, consistent, exceptional outcomes, and secure connections to the digital world.

Both certifications are designed to help create best-in-class buildings that attract and retain tenants, meet high standards of sustainability, and are future-proof. The rating systems are divided into four levels (Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum) determined by the number of points earned under each measured criterion.

WiredScore Certification focuses on digital connectivity, physical elements of the building, and the building infrastructure. It enables building owners and managers to understand, improve, benchmark, and promote their building’s digital infrastructure.

SmartScore Certification champions cutting edge technology in real estate primarily focusing on delivering exceptional experiences and outstanding outcomes to all the smart buildings’ users. SmartScore provides better clarity and benchmarking criteria for smart buildings and the commercial real estate industry as it goes through a rapid digital transformation.

ESD Practice Leader for Technology Mo Fahim says ”ESD is excited to be one of the first digital built environment certifiers in the United States and an early WiredScore launch partner. Our mission to improve society through the built environment aligns with WiredScore’s mission to make the world’s buildings better connected. We look forward to working with building owners and developers to future-proof their assets, drive rental value, attract, and retain tenants.”

ESD was an early proponent of WiredScore’s certification programs, designing the first Platinum-level WiredScore certified building in Chicago.

Expanding services to meet the needs of our clients is part of ESD’s mission to improve society through the built environment.
