Going green with building certifications like LEED, WELL, and Energy Star can be a significant step towards reaching net zero carbon emission goals, but ESD, now Stantec Energy Engineer Matthew Zweibruck says don’t stop there. (Learn more about the FacilitiesNet summit.)
Going green with building certifications like LEED, WELL, and Energy Star can be a significant step towards reaching net zero carbon emission goals, but ESD, now Stantec Energy Engineer Matthew Zweibruck says don’t stop there.
Zweibruck says relying solely on these inherently passive certification programs can miss some more proactive steps building owners and operators can take to reduce carbon emissions. Zweibruck will be presenting “Filling in the Gaps with Retro-Commissioning (RCx)” at FacilitiesNet’s upcoming “Energy Efficiency/Net-Zero Digital Summit.”
Zweibruck says operational building efficiency often takes a backseat within the suite of popular green building certification programs. But he says RCx programs can often go beyond these measures by quickly identifying and implementing cost-effective energy efficiency measures, resulting in immediate and quantifiable impacts.
Registration for the online September 17 event is open. Other sessions include an overview of codes and standards related to building efficiency and how smart energy internet of things (IoT) can play a role in improving energy solutions.
Matt Zweibruck shares his knowledge of the demand-side energy services industry in support of ESD, now Stantec’s mission to build communities and improve society through the built environment.
