Giving back has always been a priority at ESD, and on August 9, volunteers will work into the wee hours to aid the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Canstruction Chicago Build Night at the Merchandise Mart – which involves building a design with cans – will take place from 6 p.m.-6 a.m.
After considering many design ideas – including a Dagwood sandwich, deep dish pizza, the Cubs “C” and Willis Tower – about 15 ESD volunteers will construct a bowl of ice cream using more than 4,000 cans. The whole company has been chipping in to raise money to purchase the cans.
Awards from Canstruction Chicago Build Night include Best Use of Labels, Structural Ingenuity and others. The awards reception is scheduled for August 17, and every local winner goes on to compete internationally via digital photography.
