This year, ESD successfully implemented the Bridging Method
at both the Wintrust Arena at McCormick Square and the Marriott Marquis Chicago Hotel – adjacent projects that are integrated with McCormick Place in Chicago.
What is the Bridging Method? The concept of bridging in engineering, simply put, defines everything for building owners at the outset of a project (concept design, schematic design and more) so they don’t get bogged down with change orders later on. The detailed scope definition, developed through the Bridging Method, saves owners time and money.
ESD’s team has been involved with McCormick Place – North America’s largest convention center – since 1984. When ESD worked on McCormick Place’s South Building and used the Bridging Method, the project was finished months ahead of schedule and was well under budget. The firm has applied the Bridging Method to other McCormick Place projects, such as the West Building expansion, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place Hotel and its later expansion, and the Hyatt Conference Center Parking Lot A and Corporate Center.
ESD is excited about using the Bridging Method elsewhere to help clients achieve the best final result.
