Building Information Models (BIMs) are important to building performance optimization. To secure a future of reduced energy use and environmental impacts, cultivating a technology-embracing community is key in developing and maintaining successful BIM programs at universities.
The methodology behind ESD’s integrated design approach is to establish performance goals for a project, design for the climate, reducethermal loads, use energy-efficient systems and apply best technologies.
The Richard J. Daley Center is the first government-owned building in Chicago to use LEED v4.1 – released this past March – for recertification. Thanks to this new path, the building is now certified LEED EB:O+M Gold, up from Silver in 2012.
