In 2017, UL tapped ESD to help develop UL 3223, a new data center certification program. Recently, the program attracted its inaugural customer.
The first facility to receive the UL 3223 certification is the QTS Data Center facility in Chicago, which was certified in January following an inspection by UL and ESD Consulting.
“Our ultimate goal for UL 3223 is to help make data centers more resilient,” explained ESD’s Paul Schlattman in an interview with Data Center Frontier magazine.
While the UL 3223 certification is initially being offered only in the United States, UL and ESD Consulting have plans to expand it to Europe and Asia in 2018, according to the magazine.
