More and more companies are competing for workers in urban markets. Oftentimes, they expect office buildings to be ready to support their infrastructure and space needs so they can both retain and attract talent. Given complex structures and advanced technology, even Class A office buildings offer many challenges, including HVAC systems capable of supporting changes for a workforce expecting that everything will work anytime, anywhere – and with any device.
During a roundtable discussion with CSE magazine, Kurt Karnatz explored unique HVAC requirements in these types of buildings. He also talked about how maintaining business continuity in an occupied building is typically the greatest challenge of retrofitting. But once that challenge and others are met, existing talent will be happy to stay with a firm – and new talent will be excited to join.
