The mass adoption of cloud computing has created a risk that a data center, infrastructure or network failure would harm large numbers of companies and individuals.
To mitigate the risk, UL is developing a new certification program that provides end-user transparency, provider accountability, and proper data center documentation. Paul Schlattman co-authored First Glance: Behind the Development Of UL’s Data Center Certification Program in Mission Critical magazine to describe the new program and ESD’s role in it. UL will address the fire, life safety, and security aspects of data centers, while ESD, recognized as a leader in data center design, will evaluate the electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, and building automation systems.
