Measuring Our Impact and Answering Your Certification Questions

This year marks Earth Day’s 50th anniversary!

We’re checking out the socially-distant-approved events EarthDay.org has to offer to make an impact. One not to miss is the Zoominar about the Amazon rainforest and its importance on our ecosystem.

The notion of impact made us pause and reflect on two things this Earth Day:

  1. What impact has ESD Energy + Eco had on the built environment since we were created in 2006?
  2. What impact do sustainability certifications have on potentially addressing COVID-19?

What sustainability certification do I choose that also helps alleviate my COVID-19 concerns?

We’ve seen a lot of great resources created by ASHRAE, Fitwel, WELL and ESD to help address COVID-19 concerns. We can’t wait to see more!

Lately, we’ve been asked by several clients how sustainability certifications can help address COVID-19 concerns. The number one resource is the guidelines created by the CDC to address COVID-19 concerns. However, if you’re interested in pursuing a certification to help optimize employee health, attraction, retention and productivity, we’ve created the matrix below. Strategies within each certification that could potentially help alleviate COVID-19 concerns are also provided.

We hope that you all are safe and healthy this Earth Day! For any questions related to sustainability certifications, feel free to contact me, Tim Zelazny, ESD’s Senior Healthy Buildings Specialist.
