Two teams from ESD now Stantec and Stantec join a total of 600 Women Build volunteers in this year’s effort by Habitat for Humanity to construct houses for Chicago women who might not otherwise be able to afford a new home. (Learn more about Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s Women Build.)
To create the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, a number of firms formed a unified design team that focused on the patient.
Recently, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab earned the 2019 AIA Award for Interior Architecture. ESD is proud to have worked on this project. We provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and technology engineering services for the $550-million facility. Since equipment for research and rehabilitation is constantly evolving, the MEP systems for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab are configured to allow the space to have adaptive use. We also provided a monitoring-based commissioning program that included elements of planning, system testing, performance verification and more to address operating problems.
