ESD is thrilled to announce that consulting and design engineer veteran Doug Ekstrom is now leading our growing Dallas office as its Operations Director.
Ekstrom’s experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing project management, sustainability, commissioning and LEED in the Dallas area is extensive. He led regional operations and business development efforts for a national commissioning practice and served as business development director for a consulting engineering firm, where he was in charge of developing new and existing client relationships and coordinating business opportunities. Prior to that, he started a new department for specific business sector growth and was actively involved in opening satellite offices for an engineering firm. His experience involves major projects including corporate headquarters, data centers, national accounts and more.
“Doug’s passion and experience will be a great complement to our strong team and help us reach a new level of growth and expertise in the Southwest,” said Kurt Karnatz, ESD President. “He will strengthen our offerings and help set us apart from our competition.”
“I am excited to join ESD, a firm with 50 years of experience that is fully committed to expanding in the Texas region,” said Ekstrom, who was also named a vice president at ESD. “The firm’s MEP roots and vision for technology and intelligent buildings mesh well with my interests and background, and ESD’s mission of Improving Society Through the Built Environment is one I fully embrace.”
Ekstrom is affiliated with a number of organizations, including the USGBC (US Green Building Council), the AEI (Architectural Engineering Institute), ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers) and others. He holds a bachelor of science in architectural engineering from Kansas State University.
