Transforming a building lobby to be more appealing to tenants and visitors could change the space’s environment in unexpected ways. Window condensation could become a problem if proper planning is ignored. (Learn more about the condensation issues.)
ESD’s work on the Las Vegas Convention Center project continues to win acclaim for its application of innovative design and effective use of energy—this time with an honorable mention for the 2023 ASHRAE Award for Engineering Excellence.
ESD was recognized for its work on the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall.
In awarding the honorable mention, ASHRAE noted features of the project include “18 air-handling units that supply air at a discharge temperature of 45°F and 50°F (7.2°C and 10°C), providing a reduced airflow over standard temperature airflows by 537,500 cfm (253 672 L/s), providing reduced air system size.” A waterside economizer via a plate and frame heat exchanger was also cited for its innovative solution to secondary cooling demands.
According to the organization, “ASHRAE Technology Awards recognize outstanding achievements by members who have successfully applied innovative building design in the areas of occupant comfort, indoor air quality, and energy conservation.”
Projects like the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall reflect ASHRAE standards for indoor air quality (IAQ) and effective energy management. Performance is verified through one year’s recording of operating data.
Our team bring their extensive experience in the design of commercial, institutional, and educational facilities to ESD’s mission to improve society through the built environment.
