ESD Has Hand in Developing Europe’s Tallest Building

Headquartered in the biggest skyscraper in Chicago, ESD has recently been involved with some big news in Europe.

The Lakhta Center, an office building in St. Petersburg, Russia for which ESD provided peer review and MEP design assistance, is now the tallest building in Europe.

Soaring above 1,500 feet, Lakhta is also the 13th-tallest building in the world. ESD’s High Performance Building Group – which has worked on skyscrapers around the world – examined the extremely complex floor plan (which involved double-walled cavities to protect against the cold) and offered solutions on how best to improve the building’s construction, performance and sustainability.
