Chasing Efficiency

In 2004, Chicago’s Chase Tower underwent a complete renovation of its mechanical infrastructure to include new fans, VFS, cooling coils and dampers, pressure-independent control valves, and rebuilt chillers. ESD designed a facility master plan for the renovation and upgrade of the system infrastructure of the architecturally significant building. The goal was to position the renovated building as “best-in-class” for another 50 years by improving public and tenant amenities while significantly reducing energy consumption. ESD’s James Johnson, author of Chasing Efficiency, details the project and ESD’s part in the renovation.
