Case Study: Northwestern Memorial Hospital Upgrade

When the Galter and Feinberg Pavilions at Northwestern Memorial Hospital were converted from medical office buildings to inpatient care spaces, an upgraded pump and domestic water piping infrastructure system was needed to support the new operational requirements (patient rooms with private restrooms and showers). Along with the short lead time from design and development, the design team faced many challenges throughout the project, such as designing for future development and expansion, and maintaining a reliable water supply while conducting upgrades.
