Transforming a building lobby to be more appealing to tenants and visitors could change the space’s environment in unexpected ways. Window condensation could become a problem if proper planning is ignored. (Learn more about the condensation issues.)
Billed as the Midwest’s biggest festival of construction, this year’s Chicago Build will run at McCormick Place October 11 – 12. ESD, now Stantec Digital Practice Leader Samir Abdelmawla will be bringing his experience coordinating procedures and standards to overall the design processes as he joins a panel of other industry leaders.
Abdelmawla says “Technology & Innovation in the Hybrid Age” will focus on advances made in the industry to make project design and construction faster, safer, and more efficient. Topics to be covered during the session include:
- Hyper construction with early architect, engineering, and construction (AEC) partnership as Design Assist and Integrated Project Deliver (IPD).
- Collaborating to plan, design, validate, and build modular components.
- Using laser scans from as-built to model/construction coordination and punch lists.
- Leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) as digital representation of facilities and equipment that show final information in operational phase as a Digital Twin, with insights data from internet of things (IoT) sensors for cost reduction, enhanced sustainability, and operation of all facilities.
Registration for Chicago Build 2023 is open with a limited number of free tickets still available.
Samir Abdelmawla freely shares his industry experience and expertise in forums such as this to further ESD, now Stantec’s mission to build communities and to improve society through the built environment.
