ESD accepted the Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE 2016 Excellence in Engineering Technology award for our work on the Chicago Botanic Garden Learning Center during a ceremony in the Willis Tower December 6.
The Learning Center — a 26,700-square-foot education center filled with classrooms — opened in September. Natural light and rainwater harvesting are a big focus of the project, which also features rolling grassy hills on its front lawn. Among other work, ESD helped the Botanic Garden receive a significant amount of money for the $28-million structure via incentives and grants.
