ACE Chicago Mentor Program Shines Through a Challenging Year
Building Futures 2021 puts the spotlight on student projects largely developed remotely with the creative support of mentors.
Every year, ESD offers students practical exposure to careers in architecture, construction, engineering, and other related professions through the ACE Chicago Mentor Program. While adjustments were necessary during a pandemic year, the 2021 Student Showcase successfully highlighted team projects during the live virtual event on Thursday, April 15. Andrew Lehrer, an ACE Chicago Executive Board member, says ESD joined Epstein and Clune Construction to sponsor a team over the semester. Lehrer says “ESD's participation in the ACE Mentor Program provides invaluable support for the Chicago community and fortifies the future of our industry.”
The event culminated with the awarding of 25 Design Build Workshop apprenticeships, 25 paid summer internships, and more than $140,000 in scholarships to students entering fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). For those who were unable to participate in the live event, a recording is available.
It’s not too late to donate to ACE and help the organization get a running start for next year.
