What Are Best Post-Pandemic HVAC Options? Jalayerian, Jensen to Discuss High-Rise Solutions

ESD experts to share knowledge at CTBUH worldwide virtual event “The Post-Crisis City: Rethinking Sustainable Vertical Urbanism” on Nov. 17.

The coronavirus pandemic has forever changed the way buildings are designed and how they operate. In the years ahead, building owners and developers will place much greater focus on indoor air quality (IAQ) to ensure the health, safety, and wellness of occupants. They will need to choose between competing types of IAQ technologies.

The question arises: What is the best design approach for high-rise commercial office buildings in this new environment? Mehdi Jalayerian and Tyler Jensen will discuss the options for building owners and developers in their presentation “Optimizing HVAC System Configurations and Air Distribution Methods in Post-Pandemic High-Rise Offices” during the CTBUH worldwide virtual event “The Post-Crisis City: Rethinking Sustainable Vertical Urbanism.” They will evaluate different overall HVAC systems configurations that can prioritize IAQ from the onset, highlighting the distinct advantage of floor-by-floor air handling units. They will provide guidance on HVAC system design and operations best practices that can mitigate risk and improve indoor air quality in the context of post-pandemic high-rise commercial office building ventilation performance. Even as coronavirus guidance changes daily, Jalayerian and Jensen are on top of best practices in buildings.
