Offsite Design is On Target in Data Center World Amid Pandemic
Despite the efforts of many, the server container industry really didn’t gain traction in the data center world. Enterprise clients were hesitant to put servers outside or within a warehouse.
Then, COVID-19 hit.
Now, as the industry develops prototypes for both hyperscale facilities and multitenant data centers (MTDCs), most designs integrate exterior containers that support electrical and mechanical operations, explains Paul Schlattman in Benefits of Off-Site Modular Design in the Era of COVID-19 for Mission Critical magazine. He points out that as we move to a modular design and installation process, equipment is manufactured off-site, which considerably reduces the number of electricians on-site – a big plus amid a pandemic.
