Two teams from ESD now Stantec and Stantec join a total of 600 Women Build volunteers in this year’s effort by Habitat for Humanity to construct houses for Chicago women who might not otherwise be able to afford a new home. (Learn more about Habitat for Humanity Chicago’s Women Build.)
It’s great when a for-profit firm and non-profit organization can collaborate and learn from each other.
ESD is pleased to congratulate the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings (CCHRB) on its 50th anniversary. Mehdi Jalayerian is a current member and has presented often to the organization, talking about how to mitigate stack effect and discussing the complexity of high-rise hospital environments, among other topics. Aside from Jalayerian, other CCHRB members from ESD who have benefited from the collaboration have included company founder Hem Gupta and Executive Chairman Raj Gupta.
Founded in 1969 – only two years after ESD – CCHRB was the first multi-disciplined professional organization whose purpose was to “investigate problems or enhancements, support research and disseminate information for economic design, construction, operation and rehabilitation of high-rise buildings.”
