Training can help people understand topics better and use knowledge gained to improve lives.

Tim Zelazny will be attending Diversity & Inclusion Training with the Illinois Green Alliance in Chicago on Saturday, June 23. Zelazny’s volunteer work with Illinois Green Alliance (previously USGBC IL) has spanned from educating tenants at a local housing complex on sustainability and wellness to his continuous engagement on carbon reduction with the City of Chicago as Co-Vice President of Passive House Alliance Chicago.

Goals of the training include:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of power, privilege and oppression – specifically focusing on racism and gender-based oppression
  • Assess and practice strategies for building respectful and resilient relationships with community partners across lines of difference
  • Begin to create a strong organizational culture and plan for how the workshop’s learnings will carry forward into the life and work of the organization
