The Big Ten needed a headquarters with enough space to accommodate a growing staff and support the over 130 academic and athletic meetings they host each year. The high-end conference rooms and open spaces within the 50,000 sf facility supports an interactive and collaborative environment for everyone Big Ten serves – including coaches, university presidents, refs, and fans. The meeting spaces are equipped with the newest technology to provide a more interactive experience for its visitors and employees.
Along with a catering kitchen and fitness center, the Big Ten Headquarters includes a video command center for game monitoring and Big Ten Network broadcasting. This center supports nine LCD screens with separate, sound-isolated booths and is used for officials’ training purposes.
The Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chao and Big Ten’s Experience Museum, an interactive experience of Big Ten’s history, occupy the ground floor and are open to the public. The museum includes videos and games, integrating well into the MB Financial Park entertainment district and adding to the already booming area.
ESD provided MEP/FP and Technology design for Big Ten’s tenant interiors space and MEP shell and core services for the museum and steakhouse. The Big Ten Headquarters project won NAIOP’s Office Development of the Year Award for Excellence in 2013.
