ESD’s team provided MEP/FP systems design, technology engineering design, systems testing, and verification services for this facility to support the hospital’s vision of providing the best possible experience for its patients. The hospital’s HVAC systems provide the best possible indoor air quality by using full HEPA filtering, apply the latest in infection control techniques, and provide for individual patient room temperature control. The electrical systems include on-site power generation of six megawatt and 500 kva UPS, in addition to redundant utility power to allow all essential patient care procedures to continue to function in the event of an extended power outage.
The Prentice Women’s Hospital project received ASHRAE’s First Place Regional Technology Award for Region VI, the National ASHRAE Technology Award, and Green IT Project of the Year from The Executive Alliance. The facility is LEED Silver certified.
