Energy Efficiency Has Staying Power in Data Centers
Energy efficiency is a hot topic in the growing data-center industry. After all, lowering the cost of operations is always a desirable goal.
Paul Schlattman addressed the issue in the newest issue of Building Operating Management magazine. He pointed out that a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.4 with an operating PUE goal of 1.2 annualized has become the basis of data-center design, whereas a PUE of 1.8 or higher was acceptable in the past.
