ESD Becoming Big Player in Data-Center M&A Space

ESD’s participation in the mergers-and-acquisitions market in data centers in the United States has exploded this year to $3.9 billion, which represents about 65 data centers. One prime example: When CyrusOne purchased CME’s data center in Aurora, Illinois for $130 million, ESD represented the seller. ESD’s consulting arm also represents buyers and lenders in the growing data-center M&A world.

“ESD has really become the go-to firm for M&A in data centers,” says Paul Schlattman, a senior vice president at ESD. “We anticipate the buying to continue throughout 2017 as companies continue to acquire existing assets.”

ESD has been moving up in data-center rankings among engineering firms. According to a recent issue of BD+C magazine, ESD has joined the top five in the country based on revenue.
