Getting a True Sense of Security

Thanks to technology, facility managers are faced with a growing array of security choices. It’s important for them to understand the benefits and pitfalls of each one.

In Building Operating Management magazine, Coleman Wolf offered his insights. Though using smart phones as access control credentials has attracted facility managers, “you need to understand how it works and how to implement it,” Wolf says. Having access to devices and systems over the Internet offers a lot of benefits as well but, Wolf explains, “a lot of times (those devices) are not designed with security in mind. A clever person who understands that technology can exploit it.”
