CNN Discusses How Jeddah Will Tower Above All Others

In a few years, Jeddah Tower is slated to become the world’s tallest building – and ESD has helped ensure the supertall building rising from the desert is sustainable as well as state-of-the-art.

An article on CNN.com described where construction stands today, four years after it started. ESD’s team of engineers and consultants has worked in close collaboration with the architects and structural engineers to integrate sustainable design into the aesthetic design of the building. For example, Jeddah Tower is oriented so the facades align from the northeast and northwest to reduce the overall solar load, and the ventilation systems are vertically organized to take advantage of the cooler outdoor environment of the upper altitude.

ESD has provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering for the structure, with the firm’s technology services group responsible for delivering integrated consulting services for teledata, audio/visual, security and acoustics.
