Bloom Energy develops, builds, and installs on-site power generation systems which utilize fuel cell technology. ESD has provided engineering services to various existing data centers – for companies including Johnson & Johnson and Credit Suisse – for the addition of Bloom Energy fuel cells, ranging from 375 kW to 1,000 kW.
The mechanical designs included all gas and water infrastructure needed for the installations as well as the boiler relocation, design of the new boiler, and design of the pumping system in the new location. The electrical designs included the utility and facility connection to the existing critical loads within the facilities. We also provided short circuit coordination and arc flash studies for the portion of the electrical systems being installed in preliminary design phases.
For each of these projects, ESD managed the permitting process, which involved developing all documentation, coordination with the governing authority, and satisfying city requirements. We also performed interdisciplinary coordination between all disciplines.
