State Farm Center, Illinois Renaissance (Assembly Hall)

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

On its 50th anniversary, the State Farm Center (formerly known as Assembly Hall) on the University of Illinois campus celebrated its upcoming full-scale renovation project. The concrete-domed sports structure, originally constructed in 1963, is undergoing a complete transformation to improve the patron experience including contemporary amenities, innovative technology, new seating, increased aisle accessibility, a new air conditioning system, and new restrooms.

Our work on the renovation project encompasses the design of the plumbing and fire protection systems for the entire facility, lowering of the event floor, the addition of fan suites, new bowl seating, replacement of the lighting and controls, and enlargement of the concourse for added concession space. Replacement of the mechanical systems and controls will allow for air conditioning within the facility, which extends the events and activities calendar year-round.
