Four years after the construction of their data center, the client saw more opportunity in colocation and cloud services than owning their own data center. By entering into a sale-and-leaseback agreement with ByteGrid for their 36,000 sf data center space in Aurora, Illinois – a transaction orchestrated by Studley and ESD Consulting - they are able to save on maintenance costs while focusing on their core business. The client remains the primary tenant of the facility with 30% of the data center space.
The data center facility was originally designed by ESD in 2007 and is generally regarded as one of the premier enterprise data centers in the Chicago market. The 70,000 sf facility contains 36,000 sf of Tier III data center space which utilizes a system-plus-system electrical design that does not have any single points of failure. It also features a 24x7 network operations center (NOC), a NOC war room, an emergency response room, and an executive conference room.
