Position Summary

Are you a client-facing professional with extensive engineering and business development know-how with a track record of results? Check out our exciting Practice Leader – Intelligent Buildings opportunity with our Chicago team! 

As Practice Leader you will be responsible for the external growth and development of our Intelligent Building consulting services. You will use and build your industry contacts to foster revenue growth, strengthen and manage our client base, and serve as a thought leader to external clients. You will also establish new business, maintain current accounts, review proposals and pricing, and provide project teams with technical or client oversight. This role partners primarily with Operation Directors in our Automation and Technology business units to maintain the vision and strategy of Intelligent Building consulting services.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Grows market segment and achieves sales, outreach, revenue and profitability goals.
  • Leads and supports client development and pursues strategic engineering/consulting projects.
  • Partners with business units and corporate marketing to manage marketing and business development efforts.
  • Leads Key Account Relationship Management (KARM) activities to develop, assign and ensure appropriate KARM actions occurs. 
  • Actively participates in client and industry events to promote ESD brand and maintain standing as a thought leader. 
  • Establishes a point of view and communicates thought leadership to build awareness and differentiate ESD in the industry.
  • Works with Chief of Services, Chief of Engineering, the Operations Director to align initiatives, goals and objectives.
  • Partners with Operations Directors to develop operation plans to identify revenue, profitability, utilization, resources and goals for related Business Units.

Qualifications / Skill-sets

  • Possesses strong written and presentation skills to convey technical and business concepts to varied audiences and decision makers articulates ideas and solutions clearly when dealing with complex and uncertain situations.
  • Keenly aware of client’s business development and operational relationships.
  • Owns business development, marketing, and client/employee relations skills. 
  • Has sound industry network and noteworthy reputation in the industry.
  • Maintains strong critical/analytical thinking skills; able to create, convey and deploy engineering and business strategies and problem solve.
  • Deep knowledge of local and wide area networks, security systems, audio/video systems, system integration and control networks. 

Education / Certification / Experience

  • Accredited BS or master’s degree required. 
  • Relevant Licensure or professional certification based on expertise required.
  • 15+ years Technology consulting and engineering experience.
